Biosimulation Scientist

Physiomics is an Oxford-based systems biology company specialised in computational modelling of complex biological systems. Our models are based on sets of mathematical equations that simulate key biological processes, and are used by pharmaceutical companies to accelerate their internal drug discovery and development programs. We have an opportunity for a Biosimulation Scientist to join our technical team to work on projects related to drug development.

Responsibilities:

  • Function as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop models of cancer tumour growth
  • Research biological literature and integrate understanding in pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic models
  • Develop and test new dynamic models
  • Fit models to experimental and clinical data
  • Perform model sensitivity analysis and optimisation
  • Collaborate and attend regular meetings with research partners, perform presentations
  • Manage client and internal R&D projects to deliver on time and on budget

Essential Requirements:

  • PhD in Bioengineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics or related numerical field
  • Experience with mathematical modelling of biological systems
  • Experience with computational and numerical techniques
  • Programming skills in Matlab or C++
  • Some knowledge of biology and literature research tools
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of drug pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics modelling
  • Experience in parameter optimization and sensitivity analysis
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques
  • Knowledge of cancer biochemistry/pathophysiology
